Privacy, Anonymity, and Encryption



For this final I want to discuss the issues connected to anonymity, privacy and encryption in the internet environment. An important part will be the comparison of cyberspace with the real world we live in. Further the consequences that virtually unlimited, that is untraceable, anonymity has on the internet society and the individual user. Encryption will be looked at as a mean to increase privacy and at the same time decrease anonymity. Part of the discussion will be an overview of previous and current legislation in the US and Europe dealing with anonymity and privacy in cyberspace. Last I will point out my opinion on the issues and give an ethical reasoning to support it.
