Use of Calculators in the Classroom

Thesis Question:

Should educators allow the use of calculators in the classroom? What are the advantages and/or disadvantages to both sides of the debate?

To use calculators or to rely on traditional methods of computations is a very compelling issue that is being heavily debated by educators, administrators and parents. There are two clear sides to this debate and I will label them the calculator proponents and the calculator critics. I plan to examine, interpret and analyze both sides of this controversy. I will provide evidence and opinions that support both sides as well as the underlying issue that both proponents and critics have lost sight of.
